Abstract
The calibration of colour monitors requires the ability to match a specified colour produced on the monitor. This requires the conversion of colours specified in CIE coordinates into colour gun digital-to-analog (DAC) values for a monitor. One recommended method is based on the procedure derived by Cowan using phosphor chromaticities, gamma correction, and colour balance as parameters for the calibration function. To overcome the limitations of the calibration function, on automated search procedure that converges to desired colour coordinates is described.
