Abstract
The High Arctic Data Communications System (HADCS) was established to provide reliable communication between CFS Alert and Ottawa. The use of air depolarized cells as a power supply for HADCS is costly in terms of maintenance and battery replacement. This study evaluates the use of a Photovoltaic/Battery System for HADCS. Installation and monitoring of this alternative system occurred, and the results of this evaluation are presented.
