Abstract
There is a well established relationship between endurance exercise performance and muscle glycogen availability. The paper describes the results of recent studies which examined the effects of skeletal muscle glyogen depletion on performance of a one minute maximal intensity muscle fatigue test (MFT). When acute glycogen depletion of both main muscle fibre types was induced by exercise, subsequent muscle strength and power during the MFT were impaired.
