Abstract
This is a review of the book "Hypoxia: The Tolerable Limits". This book is the proceedings from the 5th International Hypoxia Symposium in 1987. A major focus involves reports from "Operation Everest II", in which 8 males were gradually decompressed in a hypobaric chamber to the simulated altitude of Mt. Everest. Of particular interest, is Saltin's keynote paper on cardiovascular adaptations to altitude, with emphasis on the exercise response.
