FLUX CORED WELDING FOR HY80/100 STEELS

Abstract
The physical characteristics of several rutile and basic flux cord arc welding (FCAW) consumables were investigated. The behaviour of the surface tension and viscosity of actual and laboratory fluxes are described, and an explanation of the favourable operating conditions is offered. Procedure qualification trials for HY80 and HY100 steels are described for one FCAW E91T1-K2 consumable, which was found suitable for hull stiffener attachments.
