The report is a survey of maritime disputes in East Asia. The types of disputes include territorial claims to islands and ajoining waters; continental shelf and economic zone delimitations; and the rights of coastal states over neighbouring seas. A background and overview are provided as well as the potential regional and strategic significance of these developments.
