Abstract
The work detailed includes enhancements to both the theory and modelling software originally developed at DND to describe the detection performance of a space-based radar operating in either DPCA or pulse doppler mode. Enhancements include the conversion of the software to FORTRAN/77, implementation of the clutter calculation on an array processor, inclusion of LFM waveform models and the study of receiver imperfections. The receiver imperfections of gain, phase, timing mismatch and timing jitter in the I and Q channels were examined using both a mathematical and a Monte Carlo approach. Further effects of quantization and limiting were evaluated using Monte Carlo simulations.
