Abstract
Pressure gradient beamforming is a technique used to process time series data obtained from a superdirective circular array of hydrophones in order to estimate the horizontal directionality of the acoustic noise field. In this report, theoretical work was first done to define the expected output of the arrays under defined conditions. Synthetic data simulations were then performed to verify these results for both four and six element circular arrays. Existing software was then modified to allow processing of the four or six element array data by the same program, and these modifications were verified in tests with simulated data.
