Abstract
The Technical Communication describes the underlying theory and use of the FORTRAN program AMAD (Added Mass and Damping), which calculates the hydrodynamic pressure distribution on the body surface, the added mass, and damping of a two-dimensional, laterally symmetric body heaving in the free surface of an unbounded fluid. Because AMAD uses the simple, free-space Green Function G = log(1/r), "irregular frequencies" are not likely to occur.
