- Abstract
- The minimum requirements for the measurement of environmental parameters that are relevant to the evaluation of electro-optical weapon systems in a maritime environment are discussed. A review of the principal phenomena that influence the propagation of visible and infrared radiation is presented, and procedures for the determination of the atmospheric factors needed to characterize propagation over the ocean are described. Several types of instruments capable of making these measurements are listed.
