Abstract
The survival of Newcastle Disease Virus, in the form of captured aerosols and in solution, during exposure to natural sunlight was examined. Inactivation of virus was rapid in both cases, although the decay rate of NDV as an immobilized aerosol was much greater than in solution. In trials conducted in clear skies and under light cloud cover, NDV showed a considerably greater photoinactivation rate than in trials conducted under heavy cloud cover.
