Abstract
The paper describes the digitization of four anthropometric faceforms. The faceforms were constructed for respirator design purposes. A laser scanner, manufactured by Hymarc Engineering of Ottawa, gathered the data. A laser beam scans the faceform surface in an x-y grid. The reflected beam is picked up by a photo detector and the z-coordiante of the point calculated by software in the computer control. The data is then stored in files on the VAX/VMS system. Some of the files are sampled to reduce the number of data points and all contain data in a regular grid of points. Rendering of the data is also shown.
