A COMPARISON OF SEVERAL AUTOREGRESSIVE METHODS IN LOW-ANGLE DIRECTION FINDING WITH A VERTICAL ARRAY ANTENNA

Abstract
A comparison of the performances of three autoregressive methods in log-angle direction finding has been made. The methods include the Burg method, the Ulrych-Clayton-Nuttall (UCN) method, and the Tufts-Kumaresan singular value decomposition (TKSVD) method. A vertically oriented, uniform, linear array antenna with eight elements was used. Both simulated and experimental results indicated that the UCN and TKSVD methods were superior to the Burg method. The UCN method was slightly inferior to the TKSVD method if there were no calibration phase errors. It was superior if these errors exceeded a few degrees.
