Abstract
The study examined: (a) the sleep stage composition of a two-hour nap taken after 40 hours of continuous wakefulness and cognitive work, (b) the usefulness of this nap for reversing deterioration of performance and mood that normally occurs with extended wakefulness, and (c) the relation between the sleep stages of the nap, and both performance and subjective state after the nap.
