Abstract
A brief review of the work sponsored by DREV on various aspects of the physical metallurgy of depleted uranium and its alloys. This work consisted of general studies on properties of alloys, effects of hot-working, vacuum-annealing and grain size refinement. A fairly extensive program was devoted to the thermomechanical treatments of these alloys. Some general remarks are made on such topics as cost and availability, health and safety problems, pyrophoricity, and oxidation of the alloys. The possibility of making composite alloys and the problem of static and dynamic properties are also discussed.
