Abstract
The Protective Sciences Division is made up of the Environmental Protection Section and the Chemical Protection Section. The Environmental Protection Section carries out research on heat and moisture transport and physiology to develop improved clothing, sleeping bags, equipment, tents and procedures to protect Canadian Forces (CF) personnel from harsh environments, particularly the land element in the cold. The Chemical Protection Section is responsible for carrying out research and development of NBC clothing and equipment. A partcular duty is to ensure that current and future equipment are not vulnerable to new threat agents.
