Abstract
It was proposed to bridge the Bering Strait with a dam for the purpose of moderating climatic conditions. According to some calculations of the thermal effect of constructing the dam, the artificially stepped-up influx of Atlantic waters into the Arctic Basin could not really make good the thermal deficit that would be occasioned by the loss of the heat brought into the Basin by the Pacific Ocean waters.
