Abstract
The problems associated with sounding the topside of the ionosphere over a wide frequency range with limited transmitter power and a long extendible electric dipole antenna system are described. estimated interference levels from ground based HF TRANSMITTERS AND NOISE FIGURES FOR VARIOUS RECEIVER FRONT-ENDS ARE GIVEN. Intermodulation and noise characteristics for different transistor amplifiers, resistive mixers and parametric up-converters are also given.
