Abstract
An ultrasonic thickness measuring device has been developed at DREP which can be inserted into the ends of the superheater tubes to measure metal wastage in any of the tubes. Service experience indicates that this type of gauge shows great promise in being an exceedingly useful tool both in superheater tubes and in boiler tubes. Aprobe using a higher frequency transducer is proposed for use in marine boilers.
