DENSITY DISTRIBUTION IN TURBULENT AND LAMINAR WAKES

Abstract
A method to measure the density in wakes of hypersonic projectiles is described, involving an electron beam fluorescence probe. This technique does not mechanically interfere with the wake flow and is capable of high spatial and temporal resolution, although ambient range pressures are restricted to less than 10 torr.
