Abstract
DRDC Ottawa Research Centre has initiated a project to differentiate between dissimilar distributions of radiological contaminations, point-like radiological sources versus extended sources. The project makes use of multiple RadCompass sensors for radiation detection and a micro-computer, the Raspberry Pi, to fuse and analyze the sensors’ information. Each sensor is uniquely shielded and has a constrained field of view. As such, the relative differences between the sensor responses allow determination of source distribution. As a mid-term project report, this document describes the current development of the project, system integration and the analysis of the various results from several experiments conducted with real or simulated radiological sources.
