Abstract
This report summarises the progress made on the underwater communications simulator during the fiscal year 2014-2015. This project falls under the larger DRDC-Atlantic program, AMBUSH (Adaptive Multi-sensor Biomimetics for Unsupervised Submarine Hunt). The past funding year corresponded to Phase II of the work plan from the original project proposal. Phase I of the project is summarized in the previous DRDC Contractor Report [1]. Phase I integrated the BELLHOP acoustic model [2, 3], the Virtual Time Series Experiment (VirTEX) channel simulator [4, 5], and the Wave Analyses for Fatigue and Oceanography (WAFO) Toolbox [6], all modified to some degree and controlled by Matlab scripts to permit study of range dependent propagation in under-ice conditions with a time-varying sea surface and steady platform motion. Also incorporated into the simulator are the effects of water currents on the propagation.
