Abstract
An experimental platform is needed to support efforts to understand the cognitive search processes of military intelligence analysts. The INformation FOraging Cognitive Analysis Tool (INFOCAT) was developed as a highly configurable software application in which a researcher can present analysis problems and large sets of information to simulate the work tasks and environment of an intelligence analyst. This report describes the design and functionality of INFOCAT, including experimental variables that can be controlled and performance data that are logged. Detailed guidance on how to configure an experiment is provided.
