Abstract
In support of Applied Research Project (ARP) 13oe, DRDC Ottawa is developing a synthetic environment for the Arctic. In the first phase of the project, a survey was performed that identified capability gaps in simulation tools for Arctic simulation. It found that weather dissemination and representation in distributed synthetic environments was the highest-profile area in need of improvement. This report provides a detailed specification for the development of a weather server. The server is designed to maintain weather server. The server is designed to maintain weather conditions and distribute them to simulator clients. This document also specifies the modification of VBS2, a commercial serious game, to accept data from the weather server and change its simulation state accordingly. Finally a scenario illustrating these new capabilities is specified for VBS2. This document defines the work to be undertaken in the second phase of ARP 13oe.
