Abstract
DRDC Ottawa is developing a standoff radiological detection system that the Canadian Forces could employ to provide early warning of radiological threats. To determine the optimal use of such a system, project staff convened a workshop to define the operators’ requirements, to identify the preferred mix of point detectors and standoff detectors, and how best to integrate these sensors within a wireless network. The results of the workshop are presented in this concept of operations whose intent is to guide further development of the standoff detector to be in concert with the way that the military would utilize it in operations.
