Abstract
The RADARSAT-2 Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) Demonstration Technology Demonstration Project (TDP) started life in April 1999 as a Defence Research and Development Branch (DRDB) major project. The project was designed to implement a pioneering ground moving target indication mode on a Canadian Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite as an experiment to test the feasibility of detecting and measuring land and marine moving targets from a space-based radar. RADARSAT-2 (R2) was used as the test platform. The project specified the GMTI implementation requirements for R2 and monitored their integration into the R2 design, developed and tested moving target detection and measurement algorithms for air borne and space-based SAR-GMTI systems, developed and tested GMTI modes for R2 and developed SAR- GMTI signal processors for R2 GMTI data. This document is the project completion report and provides a high-level summary of the project.
