Abstract
Project 6702 – RF EW Simulation Tools started in 2016 with the aim of establishing and supporting the operation of a simulation laboratory where various experiments involving Air platform Electronic Warfare systems would be undertaken. Towards this end, and as one of the main stakeholders of projects executed by the DRDC – Ottawa Research Centre, Radar Electronic Warfare (REW) section, the Directorate of Technical Airworthiness and Engineering Support (DTAES) provided a significant financial investment in this project. This multi-year investment plan is part of a long term collaboration between DTAES and REW, and is primarily directed at augmenting REW section capacity in this domain. This report contains a summary of the project’s progress over the period fiscal year 2016–2017. It updates the information that was provided in the original Project 6702 document with respect to the actual deliverables, the expenditures and the acquired systems with a justification for the selection of specific technologies. Finally, we initiated a discussion as to how this activity is being shaped to deliver a new Radar Electronic Warfare Simulation and Analysis Capability, an effort that is aligned and would complement other initiatives, such as the Air Power program, RF Warfare project, and follow-on projects.
