Abstract
In an attempt to improve the Canadian Forces Supply System (CFSS), the CFSS Upgrade Project was set up with the mandate to replace the CFSS terminals and extend links to first line units. It soon became evident that fundamental functional problems were not being addressed and could not be solved through hardware changes alone. D Log A was asked by PD CFSS Upgrade to assist the project team in their assessment of these problems and identification of potential solutions. Assistance was given under project number 96503-6. The report documents problems with the current order point/order quantity concepts of the CFSS and assesses the potential of a more recent approach to inventory control, called Distribution Resources Planning (DRP).
