Abstract
The technical memorandum presents first experimental results of an ultrasonic relative localization system developed at Defence R&D Canada at Valcartier (DRDCV). Theoretical concepts have been validated through experiments at the Hardware In the Loop (HIL) laboratory of the Weapons Systems Section. Results presented in this document show that the Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA) algorithms based relative localization system composed of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) electronic: (1) allow to estimate the relative position and heading of an ultrasonic source, (2) localize an ultrasonic source using solely on-board sensors, (3) allow to both localize and identify neighbors vehicles equipped with an ultrasonic source.
