Abstract
The centre of gravity of the CF-18 SJU-9/A ejection seat was determined using a moment method and eight subjects representative of Canadian Forces aircrew anthropometry. Results agree with data from Martin-Baker and McDonnell Aircraft Company data for the SJU-5/A seats in the direction perpendicular to the catapult axis, and differ slightly (1-2 cm) in the direction along that axis. All data corresponds to a desired rearward pitching seat moment during ejection for the full anthropometric range of CF aircrew.
