Abstract
Vulnerability assessment tool/solution accuracy is an important criterion for its evaluation acceptability. At the same time, this issue has multi-dimensional aspects that require in-depth analysis. To gain a better understanding and to sustain better vulnerability scanning accuracy, in this document, we: • describe the contributing factors affecting vulnerability assessment accuracy; • survey how false positives are currently being dealt with; • suggest how to better evaluate vulnerability assessment tools for their accuracy; • define strategy to ultimately achieve better vulnerability assessment accuracy; and • propose some potential solutions and areas for further investigation.
