An approach to target tracking by multistatic active sonar

Abstract
A method is presented, in its early stages of development, for tracking targets by means of multistatic active sonar. In contrast to traditional methods, in which each contact is considered for possible association with each track, this method deals instead with the peaks in a likelihood function that is computed from all of the contacts that arise from a given ping. The method has both a manual mode and an automatic mode for the creation and deletion of tracks. Both modes are illustrated with examples from simulated sonar data.
