GAIN MEASUREMENTS ON THE SEQUENCE BANDS IN A TEA-CO2 AMPLIFIER

Abstract
It was found that the ratio of the gain coefficient of the sequence bands over that of the regular bands bands was independent of either the CO2 or He proportion in the gas mixture. This ratio rather increases with the electrical energy dumped into the active medium. Due to the relatively high gain of the sequence bands, it should be possible to have standard TEA CO2 lasers emit at frequencies where the atmospheric transmission at sea level is higher than at the regular emission frequencies.
