Abstract
On a previous contract a method was developed for extracting the spectral line profile from experimental spectra comprising the superposed contributions from large numbers of lines. During the present contract this method has been extensively investigated and improved. Although much improved it is felt that better performance should be possible and suggestions for future work are included. Calculations of sea-level atmospheric transmission were made for a number of paths and these and the spectral appearance of a methane burner, in the spectral range 2370 to 2405 cm1(-), are also presented.
