Abstract
A lamellar microstructure observed in electrodeposited nickel-iron foil was found to consist of alternate layers of gamma phase nickel-iron alloy solid solution and of what are probably extremely thin layers of an unidentified material. Heat treatment of the foil resulted in complete disruption of the layers and the formation of a random polycrystalline microstructure throughout.
