Abstract
The report constitutes a comprehensive description of the work performed for the study of frequency doubling of DF laser radiation. The research program consisted of several phases: (i) A literature survey for suitable non-linear crystals and their relative merit for SHG of DF laser radiation; (ii) The determination of the radiation damage thresholds for two crystals under operating conditions; and (iii) Experiments to determine the conversion efficiency to the second harmonic of both single line and multi-line radiation on the most suitable crystal material using an appropriate optical beam delivery system. The results for the various phases of this research program are now presented.
