Abstract
The report is a history of defence atomic research in Canada until 1967. It is a highly personal account as seen from the perspective of the author, A.K. Longair, who was the Director for Atomic Research in the Defence Research Board until 1967. An attempt is made to place events that took place in Canada in their context with respect to developments in other countries. An index of Canadian personnel who were active in atomic defence in Canada is included.
