Abstract
The staff note discusses the problem of zero reorder levels (ROLs) in the Canadian Forces Supply System (CFSS). Three methods of removing or reducing the number of zero ROLs are documented. A formula is developed to determine the impact on inventory of these three methods and a methodology is described to estimate the cost involved for each. Sample data from 45 high usage items was used as an example and a programmable calculator was employed to assist in these computations.
