Abstract
ATHENA is a frame-structured, hierarchically-organized knowledge representation system. The system has nodes for individuals, classes, indefinite individuals, and descriptions. Links between the nodes are structured with explicit definitional roles, types of inheritance, defaults, and various datatypes. It also contains implementation information, including a discussion of the underlying data structures, global variables, low-level functions, and the support environment.
