Abstract
An atmospheric-pressure CO2 laser utilizing the double-discharge technique developed at DREV has been operated at moderate repetition rates. A multimode output power of 75 watts has been obtained at a repetition rate of 120 Hz, corresponding to an output power of 0.63 joule per pulse. The maximum pulse repetition rate can be predicted by a flow model, the results of which are summarized and the experimentally obtained output energies and extraction efficiencies are compared to the results of a simple rate equation model.
