Abstract
The requirement for a computer program to simulate the magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) and motion-sensor outputs of a patrol aircraft for the purpose of detection algorithm and tactics development is presented. The MADSIM program has been developed to fill this need. The MADSIM program attempts to generate data which are interchangeable with actual flight records of the NAE MAD research aircraft. The equations of motion, generation of random-noise sequences, control of aircraft and submarine tracks, as well as details of the computer program, are discussed. An illustrated example of the program input and output is provided.
