Abstract
The usefulness of LiF for thermoluminescence dosimetry has been limited by thermal instability of the trapping levels. Special annealing cycles are required to overcome this. A new type of material (PTL-69) is said to be indefinitely reusable without annealing. PTL-69 was recycled 19 times and the glow curves showed slow and progressive deterioration, much less rapid than with other commercial LiF. It was concluded that this material could be useful in military situations, where annealing is impossible.
