Abstract
The report describes the work done on the determination of the combustion behaviour of a range of synthesized fuels in a 76 mm diameter gas turbine type combustor using pressure jet atomization. The influence of fuel properties and composition upon pollutants emitted (CO, NO/NOx, unburned hydrocarbons, smoke), wall temperatures, exhaust temperature distribution, efficiency, and stability was determined at atmospheric pressure. The results indicate that the quality of atomization is the major influencing factor for efficiency, CO, and unburned hydrocarbons, the influence of the chemical properties being secondary.
