- Abstract
- The purposes of this report are to identify potential causes for simulator sickness in the CF-18 Weapons System Trainer (WST), and to provide a means of estimating the extent of the problem. Reported here is an analysis of visual system features which indicates that the WST has considerable potential for generating simulator sickness. Symptoms of simulator sickness and their possible effects on safety and training effectiveness are discussed. The development of a questionnaire to assess the scope and time course of an individual's simulator sickness is described and some objective observations are suggested to validate the the questionnaire results. Data gathered by these means should help provide a rational basis for flight restrictions following simulator training on the WST.
