Abstract
The article presents a discussion of the USSR perception of the positive and negative sides of replacing the internal combustion engine (ICE) automobile by an electric one. It then discusses their first attempt to design and construct an EV, proceeding with the main problem of the EV-the choice of an efficient storage battery (SB). The last section of the article will be devoted to the EV in Canada, comparing developments here and in the USSR.
