Abstract
This contract designs and develops a broadband direction finding antenna for the Defence Research Establishment Ottawa. The result is a dual log-periodic slot antenna with a small ground plane. Such an antenna always has a null in the boresight direction, over a wide (say 3 to 1) frequency band and for any polarization, horizontal or vertical linear polarization and R.H. or L.H. circular polarization. Thus when the antenna is spun around its boresight axis, it becomes an excellent direction finder for any type of radiating source. The antenna is printed on a substrate, it is therefore easy to make and light weight. The novelty of the antenna results in three patent applications.
