DETECTION RANGE OF RADAR CORNER REFLECTORS IN THE PRESENCE OF SEA ICE

Abstract
Large corner reflectors were set on the ice in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and were observed with airborne and shipborne radars. The detection range was horizon limited. Under optimum conditions, the reflectors were detected at a range of 40 miles.
