- Abstract
- The paper refutes a number of common misconceptions about Gorbachev. These are: he is unusually young to be General Secretary; he is the first generation unaffected by the war; his intentions are unclear and mysterious and he is bent on truly reforming the Soviet system. There is little evidence for any of these assertions.
